The Ongoing Mission

With cancer lurking around to remind me of my mortality, I always ask myself: “What keeps me staying alive?”  The answers below get me going despite the uncertainties of the harsh treatments.

The first and obvious answer is for my loved ones. I’d do anything to spend more quality time with my family, cats, godchildren, great friends and supporters. I’ve got too much love love pouring in and I’d like to give back 10x more! Hence, I carry on.

Second, I’ve just started a life in California. Being here for 7 years makes me love it more and more and I’m excited to explore my potential as a US citizen! With God’s grace, I pray that I be given time to do so.

Third are the legacy projects & advocacy I’ve been working on that will give voice to Filipino and Filipino-American creatives as well as breast cancer survivors. Filipinos are underrepresented in the global media. By creating my books, documentary, and screenplay,I’m doing my part to contribute to Filipino-American global literature and art. And putting out cancer thriver stories will shed light that “living” is possible even with this life threatening disease… that there is definitely hope if you keep believing in beautiful possibilities.

Legacy Projects In The Works

BREAST CANCER PH DOCUMENTARY

With a professional crew from Manila, I started shooting a documentary exposing the breast cancer situation in the Philippines. It started with sharing my story along with other Filipina survivors from different walks of life, interviews from non-profit organizations, private and public sectors, loved ones of patients and Filipino medical professionals. We are in the process of filming but we need funding. To support this documentary that will improve the breast cancer health care system in the Philippines, kindly donate in the links in my page.

BOOKS I WROTE (& WILL WRITE!)

I wrote my first book, “That Sh*t Called Cancer” thinking that I was gonna die on 2020 from cancer recurrence. Thank God I’m still here to write more books! I also launched my children’s cancer storybook called “No Hair Mama, Don’t Care”. Show some love to my books by going to Amazon and getting a copy. Now, I’m working on a memoir. Stay tuned for the official release date!

INDIE FILM SCREENPLAY

I’m currently working with a screenwriter/director to create an indie feature film inspired by my US immigrant cancer survivorship story. We are pitching it to potential investors and producers this year. It’s about a Filipina going for the American Dream. But instead of achieving success, it became a battle from a horrible disease that comes with harsh realities and life lessons. Got inquiries? Hit me up & I can elaborate.
